The responsibilities:  

The intern will gain practical experience in research and digitising sixty year of Irish photographic images. The intern will receive formal/informal training in the following: archival methods and practice, The processes involves correlating information from manuscript materials, old diaries and ledgers, matching that to required image, scanning and captioning, adding key words, uploading to an on line website. On completion the intern will have attained skills in experience of research preservation methods and practices. Experience in software packages such as Aperture, Photoshop and Photoshelter.

Profile:

A genuine interest in archives and history. Knowledge of Google Key Word, Analytical, SEO, a good level of I.T. Skills would be essential. Some Customer service interaction will be involved requiring a good phone/e-mail communication manner. Attention to detail, with good written skills, good timekeeper, capable of working on own initiative within a small team following best practice.

The responsibilities:

-          Website monitoring: daily checking of the site to monitor new customer applications and customer queries. Management and updating of site content

-          Responding to customer queries by phone and email.

-          Receiving, sorting, logging of incoming customer media. Dispatch to customer of processed orders.

-          Digital transfer of photographs, negatives, slides and multi format video to cloud based customer accounts (will involve training in and operation and management of a selection of video formats, photograph copiers, slide and negative copiers, which we use to digitize the customer’s content).

-          General administration and invoicing, account management.

All of these tasks require focus and application at all times.

Ideas in advertising and promotion of the company would be encouraged, particularly in the area of social media.
